To our Patrons, Exhibitors, and Community,
We are writing, with sincere regret, to announce our decision to cancel the 2020 Weston Antiques Show. Truthfully, that decision was made for us by circumstances you can understand; clouds we hoped would dissipate have not. The safety of our exhibitors, volunteers/staff and visitors had to be our first priority.
Our decision was based on many inhibiting factors including:
Vermont has legislated a mandatory 14-day self-quarantine for visitors from most counties/states in the Northeast. Some two-thirds of our dealers come from quarantine counties, as do an estimated 40-50% of our attendees.
Many of our loyal volunteers are of an age that is considered “at risk” and some came forward to decline participation this year, including some key people.
The state has set a limit on the number of people who can attend an indoor event. The Weston Playhouse is undoubtedly a larger venue than most for whom that limit was set, but there is no assurance that we would be granted an exemption.
We delayed as long as possible in making this decision in the hope that we could proceed, but when we reached the point of having to make substantial financial commitments on behalf of an event whose viability seemed impossible, we had little choice. We are posting contact information for our 2020 dealers on our website, and we encourage our patrons to contact them directly in the absence of this year’s show.
We hope that 2021 will bring better and safer times for all of us, and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Weston Antiques Show as we have for so many years.
